A gnomon groove 5 mm wide remains in the top surface of the dial. Limestone - This miniature dial has a rounded back. Twelve hour lines extend from a day curve near the gnomon to the lower edge of the spherical surface." (Gibbs 1976) "Traces of engraved letters are visible below the spherical surface." "Petrie mentioned this find in his journal (Journal 1884-85, p. 191) 'a small limestone dial was picked out of the rubbish' in the Temple of Apollo area."
